How would you characterize your musical style?

My music is characterized by rhythms frenetic, with powerfulbass and metallic sounds.

What genres of music most inspire you and influence your creativity?

The genres I feel identified with are Hardtechno, Schranz and Industrial Techno.

I choose the songs mainly from albums sent to me by fellow producers along with old school schranz songs. After exploring spotify lists, sets on soundclound and my songs.

How do you create atmosphere and mood during your performances?

I try to start with a deep intro and then release powerful bass to warn people of what’s to come hahaha from there on I unleash all the madness hahaha.

What is your approach to mixing and mixing tracks in your set?

They have to be harmonically compatible and their sounds fit well together.

EXPERIENCE AND CAREER

How did your career as a DJ begin?

I began my musical studies in 2019, taking a music production course a music production course and a professional DJ course.

What were your first gigs and how did they influence you as an artist?

After my studies I teamed up with other students from the music school and we created our own event promoter. Starting with raves and moving soon after to the club scene in the Pontevedra/Galicia area. These first events helped me to gain confidence and to be able to expose my musical project in the area.

What were the most significant moments in your career that shaped your development?

The main moment that developed my career was my recruitment for an event in Lisbon, through C0de Lisboa. That was my first event outside Galicia. Shortly after that event I was called to perform in Murcia through the promoter Matadero. Thanks to those two events I started to perform all over Spain and Portugal.

Is there a particular club or festival where you performed that is particularly memorable to you?

Yes, several. Matadero (Murcia), C0de (Lisboa), Pedra do Couto (Porto), Der Techno (Milán).

TECHNICAL ASPECTS

What equipment and software do you prefer for your performances?

The mixer I like the most is the “Allen & Heath Xone 96” and my favorite cdjs are the Pioneer 3000 or 2000 nexus 2. The software I use for djing is Rekordbox and for music production I use Ableton.

How do you work with the equipment during your performances and what technical nuances play a key role for you?

I always try to make long mixes by playing with equalization and using hot cues to make the sets more dynamic.

What effects or techniques do you use to create a unique sound in your sets?

What I like the most is to play with the filters, making as if the mix was a single track. I tend to mix quite a lot of old schranz songs with more modern industrial and hardtechno sounds, creating different sounds.

TRENDS AND DEVELOPMENTS

How do you see electronic music evolving in the near future?

From my point of view, hardtechno and genres that go at high speeds will grow more and more.

What new technologies or trends do you see as the most promising for DJing?

I think the future is to do a live show. With the ableton and some midi instruments and create mini songs live, giving each set its own unique touch.

How do you adapt to changes in the music industry and audience during your performances?

I try to always stay up to date with what’s happening in the industry. And regarding performances, I always tend to look for a balance between the room and my style.

When I’m not listening to techno I usually listen to old school rap, old rock…

PERCEPTION OF MUSIC

What role do you think music plays in people’s lives today?

I believe that music is essential to lead a healthy mental life because with it we can experience and express many feelings.

What effect does music have on people’s emotional state during your performances?

I believe that my music, because of the speed and forcefulness it has, takes out all the stress that people accumulate during the week.

Do you think music should evoke certain emotions or should it just be relaxing/entertaining?

Of course music has to evoke emotions, in fact it does, even if we don’t realize that it has done so.

TOURING AND PERFORMING

What countries or cities inspire you the most to perform?

Berlin obviously haha but apart from Berlin I would also like to perform in countries like Holland, Italy, Belgium and Eastern Europe.

Are there specific cultural or audience tastes that you notice in different countries when performing?

Yes, depending on the place where you perform, people are more predisposed or not. But in general people always show an attitude that is very much appreciated.

How do you prepare for touring and how does it affect your creativity?

Well, it makes it difficult especially the fact of not having time to produce music. But otherwise they are always appreciated.

MUSIC SCENE AND COMMUNITY

How do you assess the state of the current music scene?

From my point of view, I think it is growing a lot and I am very happy about it. But I also think that there is a lot of abuse of the same line ups in all the events, especially in the biggest ones.

What challenges or advantages do you see in working in the music community?

The most relevant advantage may be being able to share knowledge and experiences among colleagues, and thus learn from each other. And perhaps the biggest challenge is to reach an agreement if differences arise on any issue.

Is there anything you would like to change about the music industry?

Yes, there are certain narcissistic and egomaniacal behaviors in the industry that it would be nice if they could be changed.

Mostly from spotify playlists, songs sent to me by other artists or from dj sessions that I consider to be referents in my musical genre.

Talking always leads to an agreement. Besides, the artists I collaborate with are usually very close to my musical genre.

PERSONAL HABITS AND SOURCES OF INSPIRATION

What other arts or hobbies inspire you to make music?

None haha what inspires me most to make music is listening to more music haha listening to different genres and watching music videos.

Significantly no. I think I did the best I could with the means I had.

Well, in five years I hope to be performing all over Europe on a constant basis and to have toured America.

What factors influence your choice to collaborate with certain labels or clubs?

That they are in some way related to my musical style.

MUSIC MAKING AND CREATIVE DECISIONS

How do you usually start creating a new track or set? Where do you start?

For the creation of a song I always start by making a Kick that I like. Then I continue with the bass and the rest of the elements of the song. Regarding the sets I usually create an intro and from there I order the tracks in a harmonic way, in a way that I try to create a variation of intensities by zones of the session.

How do you decide on the order of tracks in your set to create the best flow and emotional dynamics?

I am guided mainly by its harmonic key and by the forcefulness of the track, and I check that the sounds fit well between the tracks to see if they are compatible.

What techniques do you use to keep your sound original and avoid repetition in your sets?

Trying to use always new songs and new ways of mixing

AUDIENCE OUTREACH AND ENERGY AT EVENTS

How do you feel and read audience energy during performances? How does it affect your set?

I was lucky that most of the times I performed the audience was at full capacity and it is very much appreciated. Seeing people dancing and enjoying what I am doing makes me even more motivated. If, on the other hand, people are a bit more subdued, I try to change it any way I can.

How do you maintain the atmosphere at the event and interact with the audience during the performance?

I always try to dance and make gestures to interact with the audience, so they also know when a mix is going to break.

How do you react to negative or unexpected situations during a performance?

The most important thing is that the music never stops playing haha. I usually always have spare equipment for any unforeseen event.

FEATURES COLLABORATIONS AND REMIXES

How do you approach collaborations with other artists or DJs when creating joint tracks or mixes?

I always try to create a consensus with the other artist so that both of us can express what we want.

What challenges or advantages do you see in creating remixes of other people’s tracks?

The biggest challenge is perhaps having to adapt to the sounds of his track. But it’s also good to experiment with sounds that you wouldn’t create haha

How do you overcome disagreements or creative differences when working together?

Disagreements are almost never created. And if there are disagreements, we try to resolve them in a way that everyone is happy with.

INDUSTRY PREVIEW

Do you think it’s important for a DJ to have a unique sound or style in today’s industry?

Yes of course. With the amount of competition there is today you have to look for something that differentiates you from the rest. The more things the better haha* What are your thoughts on current trends and their impact on electronic music? There are certain things that I don’t like, but hey, I try to focus on my style, trying to make people like it.

What role do you see yourself playing in the evolution of the music industry with your creativity and performances?

Well, I hope to be opening a door to schranz for the new generations, most of the young people did not experience the schranz that existed in 2010 and around. Since it is a type of music that was being lost and little by little it is back to where it deserves.
