Creative process and style:
* How would you characterize your musical style?
My musical style embodies the pulse of fast-paced rhythms intertwined with
hypnotic trance and psy-trance melodies, all seasoned with a distinctive groove. I
find joy in experimenting with unexpected genres like electro, adding layers of
versatility to my sound.
* How do you choose tracks for your sets and podcasts?
Crafting my sets and podcasts involves a meticulous process. I begin by thoroughly
exploring the lineup and the musical ethos of fellow artists. Considering the set’s
timing, I strategically curate the opening track, a few middle pieces, and any
essential tracks that demand inclusion. The remainder is left to spontaneous
inspiration, allowing for dynamic and authentic performances.
Experience and career:
* How did your career as a DJ begin?
My journey into DJing sprouted from my insatiable appetite for music discovery.
Collecting diverse playlists and constantly seeking fresh tunes became second
nature. However, it wasn’t until I stumbled into a friend’s music studio and
witnessed the art of mixing firsthand that my passion ignited. From that moment on,
I immersed myself in the craft, fueled by a love for the rave culture that continues to
resonate within me. (I’m still a raver!)
* What were the most significant moments in your career that shaped your development?
One of the most impactful decisions I’ve made for my career was establishing “Fast
Class Records.” Our venture extends beyond just music production; we also organize
event series in Istanbul, with plans for international expansion in the near future.
This label and event series represent a recent addition to my portfolio, affording me
the opportunity to immerse myself in all facets of the music industry and event
management, beyond my role as a DJ.
Technical aspects:
* What equipment and software do you prefer for your performances?
In my performances, I gravitate towards the tactile feel of the Xone 92 or 96 mixers,
drawn to their analog warmth and intuitive interface. Recently, I’ve also found a
fondness for the DJM-V10. For CDJs, the 3000 and 200 NXS2 models resonate with
my style. When it comes to software, Rekordbox serves as my go-to for DJing, while
Ableton fuels my creative endeavors in music production.
Trends and developments:
* How do you see electronic music evolving in the near future?
Thinking about where electronic music is headed, I believe it’s going to keep
changing in interesting ways. Even though trends come and go, I think trance music
is going to become even more popular, like how Hard Techno has been. It’s
something I’m really excited about because it’s going to change how music sounds in the future.
Individual preferences:
* How do you choose music for your personal listening in your daily life?
My everyday music choices cover a wide range of styles. I spend a lot of time
listening to electronic music as I love exploring different sounds. But I also enjoy the
intense energy of early metal, metalcore, old-school rnb. At the end of the day, I
unwind with calming ambient tunes that help me relax and drift off to sleep.
